Officials in Tijuana Baja California say the dismembered bodies of 45-year-old Yulia Masney, a Russian woman and her 12-year-old daughter Valeria Lechchenko Masney, were found in a garage and they suspect a family member.
The women’s rotting bodies were found in plastic bags at their home in Playas de Tijuana, about a half mile (1 kilometer) from the U.S. border.
The state prosecutor’s office said the bodies were found on Wednesday June 10th, after police responded to reports of a stench coming from the garage.
The local Police statement issued on Thursday June 11th said that two people were being questioned and that “the family environment could have been the cause.”
The main line of investigation suggests that eldest daughter Anastasia Lechchenko Masney 19-year-old, who on several occasions had been reported missing by the mother, could be involved in the murder.
Anastasia was brought to testify as “filed” (presentada), because there was no flagrancy, she cannot be detained unless an arrest warrant is filed against her.
The father, also of Russian origin, was separated from the woman and works as track and field coach in Tijuana.
