Mexicali Chamber of Industry (Canacintra in Spanish) agrees with the adjustment that the City Counsil applied to real estate values in order to determine the so called “Landowner’s tax”, which radical groups such as Mexicali Resiste consider a raise on the taxation, the industrial chamber President, Juan Ignacio Galego considers that it is the right decision for Mexicali and that it will bring several benefits to its residents.

Mexicali industrial leader said that Canacintra is part of the Committee of Real State Assessment of the City Council where they thoroughly analyze and study (all year long) the prices and other factors that have a direct influence on these prices.

Gallego Topete estimates that the adjustment borders the 5% depending on the district or area of Mexicali, that it is coherent with the inflation rates and will allow Mexicali City Council to keep facing expenses for services that Mexicali residents require such as pavement, pothole fixing, street lights and security among others.

The business community agrees with the adjustments, according to inflation, and they are sure that it will be beneficial for Mexicali but (anyway) Canacintra will watching over to make sure the resources are destined to public services required by Mexicali.
