MEXICALI, BC- Tuesday, January 2, 2018.- In order to strengthen the health strategies promoted in the State Administration headed by Governor Francisco Vega de Lamadrid, authorities of the General Hospital of Mexicali announced more than 60 heart surgeries for congenital cardiopathies performed on Baja California children during 2017.
The head of the Secretariat, Guillermo Trejo Dozal, mentioned that these surgeries were carried out through monthly sessions, by a specialized team of cardiovascular surgeons of the National Institute of Cardiology Ignacio Chavez, as well as cardiovascular anesthesiologists and local cardiology hemodynamics specialists, in coordination with the “Doctors with Heart Foundation” and the General Hospital of Mexicali Board of Trustees.
The Director of the General Hospital of Mexicali, Caleb Cienfuegos Rascón, commented that the cases that have been treated through these surgeries correspond to patients who require urgent intervention and who, thanks to the timely medical attention, have managed to correct their illness to change their lives.
In addition, the official stressed that every month these days of heart surgery are totally free, which in the private sector could reach a cost between 240 to 450 thousand pesos if there are no complications. Otherwise the amount could’ve reach one million of pesos.
“48 interventions were programmed in 2017 and we have already exceeded 60 interventions during the year, due to the demand for services at regional and national levels,” said Cienfuegos Rascón.
Finally, he acknowledged the work of the staff that has participated in this strategy and congratulated the medical, paramedical and team members of the Doctors with Heart Foundation for joining efforts for the health of the people of Baja California, since the local program has obtained very similar results to programs carried out at other high specialty national centers.
