Mexicali, Baja California.- On Monday Feb. 19, the dismembered body of a woman was located in different locations of Colonia Granjas Nuevas, in Mexicali BC.
According to Zeta Tijuana, the discovery was made after authorities received the report of an abandoned Volkswagen Jetta near a business on Braulio Maldonado Street.
Once the vehicle was towed, agents of the Ministerial Police began to carry out the corresponding investigations in the area, finding a female torso wrapped in black plastic bags inside an abandoned building.
The area was cordoned and an investigation folder was opened on the finding, which resulted in the search of the other parts of the body in buildings in similar conditions located in the area.
This is how Ministerial Police agents located a woman’s head in an abandoned apartment located just two blocks away from where they had previously found the torso. The victim’s arms and legs have not been found.
It is speculated if the human remains belong to Delia Isabel Verdugo Machado, a 32-year-old woman, who disappeared on January 27, 2018 after leaving her house in Fraccionamiento Condesa and who was officially reported missing and had an open file at the Unit of Missing Persons of the PGJE.
Unofficially it is said that the remains could belong to the aforementioned female who went missing since Saturday January 27; however, authorities are still waiting for DNA test results to determine the identity of the victim.
