MEXICALI, BC, March 3, 2018.- With the objective of supervising the safety, infrastructure and treatment operational protocols at the Center for Social Reintegration (Cereso) of Mexicali, the Secretary of Public Safety of the State, Gerardo Manuel Sosa Olachea, made a tour of the facilities
The head of security in the state arrived at the Cereso where he verified the correct functioning of the intelligent customs office which has an arc and an X-ray device to detect any attempt of introducing either drugs or weapons.
He also toured the educational area where he chatted with the librarian who pointed out that on average the interns consult about one thousand books per month, mostly educational bibliographies, literary works and encyclopedias.
Sosa Olachea emphasized that it is necessary to review in detail all aspects of public safety in the state, and said that detention facilities are obviously an important part of this infrastructure and that’s why he made this tour accompanied by the Under Secretary of the State Penitentiary System, David Limón Grijalva and other members of the staff.
During the tour, she visited the women’s area of the Reintegration Center where she observed that the activities were carried out in order, as well as the good treatment of the prison guards towards the female interns. There he supervised the remodeling of the kitchen. And finally Sosa Olachea monitored the operation of the Unit of Attention and Integral Penitentiary Service (UASIPE), which has the purpose to assist the relatives of inmates during visit hours.
This type of actions are carried out at the different Social Rehabilitation Centers of Baja California as part of the “Crusade for Security, everyone’s task” headed by the Governor Francisco Arturo Vega de Lamadrid to guarantee the continuous improvement of the State Penitentiary System and to supervise that respect for human rights is a priority.
