Mexicali .- A student of a public high school in Mexicali, published on his Facebook account that he would carry out a “shooting” at his school.
“On Friday, March 16, 2018, I will carry out a shooting in my high school, I’m from Mexico, I´m talking about CECYTE Los Pinos.” To my homies from the Holk legion at that high school, I warn you not to go, cuase too much blood will be spilled. I hope you all remember me as a hero. “
The student’s message activated the security protocol of the school “CECYTE Los Pinos” in Mexicali, the student was suspended, and he is now receiving the proper psychological attention.
Javier Cabanillas, director of the school, said that it is the first case of this sort registered in that school and that the support of the students was key to find out about the threat.
According to the reports of his classmates, the student used his social networks to warn that he would carry out a “shooting” on Friday, March 16.
The Public Ministry of the Attorney General of the State went to the campus to meet with the teenager, who ended up saying that it was only a joke.
The young man also stressed that he did not calculate the consequences of his publication.
“A student called us and told us that a few minutes ago, one of his classmates had posted that information on Facebook, so we proceeded to locate the teenager, to see if he was indeed a student at our school,” said Cabanillas.
In addition, the director reported that they located the kid’s parents and called them to discuss the situation.
“The young man acknowledged that he edited some information that he saw somewhere else in the internet, that he did it as a joke without thinking of the consequences,” he added.
The school safety protocol indicates that the state authorities and the School Safety Officer of the campus must be informed.
As part of the protocol, the student must receive psychological therapy and maintain close communication with the parents, who should present progress reports with the therapist to the authorities.
