The first couple of Haitians who already have legal residence in Mexico got married in Mexicali, Baja California, on April 14th, 2018.
Ernande Dorvylus, 29, and Wisly Bellamourb, 30, met four months ago at the Autonomous University of Baja California.
Joshua Hiram Aello Melendres, from the Civil Registry Office of Mexicali, said that all the “necessary documents marked by the Civil Code of the State of Baja California” were checked and the couple has “a document issued by the National Institute of Migration, granting them legal permanent residence. ”
Ernande came to Mexicali to study the Masters in Animal Science Production and Wisly to study Mechatronics Engineering.
Ernande mentioned that he has been in Mexicli for two years and three months.
It is the first marriage between two Haitians, with legal residence in Mexicali. But there have been eight weddings between Mexican-Haitian couples.
In addition to these marriages, there have been two deliveries of Haitian parents in Mexicali; one of them was a birth of twins.
