Mexicali’s public High School invited to represent Mexico at the XIX International Bands Festival

The Music Band of Mexicali’s public High School number 50 was invited to represent Mexico at the XIX International Bands Festival in Giulianova (Italy), and taking advantage of their trip they will also be playing in Rome.

It will be at the end of May that seventy of the 130 teenagers that make up the Band will have the privilege of playing the sounds of the region, and represent our country, in Rome and Giulianova, becoming the only Mexican musical organization to participate in this edition of the bands’ meeting in that European country.

“The band from Mexicali’s public High School number 50 will be the only one from Mexico invited to the festival, along with others from Japan, Lebanon, France, Russia, among other countries,” said Band Director Gerson Ramírez.

The 50 High School Music Band has a history of more than four decades.

However, each of the students must pay for their trip, 27 thousand pesos for a plane ticket, plus 2,500 pesos for a special price package that includes hotel, meals and transfers.

Although the Government of the State and the Institute of Culture of Baja California is payng for part of the airfare, students’ parents and the band director are conducting activities to raise funds.

The Institute of Culture of Baja California offers tax deductible receipts to individuals or corporations who wish to support this cause. For this purpose, account 036 535 1227 of Banorte has been opened.

The young people will leave on May 25 for a first presentation in Rome and then they will travel to Giulianova for the XIX International Band Festival.
