Thousands celebrate Wellbeing Day in Mexicali Forest and Zoo

Thousands of Mexicali residents celebrated the World Wellbeing Day, in the facilities of the City Forest and Zoo, where Mayor Gustavo Sanchez and his wife Margarita de Sanchez welcomed all the attendants who enjoyed several activities related to their physical wellbeing and the different manners to achieve such a state physically and mentally.

Mayor Sanchez emphasized that each attendant stood for a Mexicali resident willing to take care of his own health and got the commitment of doing everything to achieve a better shape, doing exercise and assuming a positive attitude as the best way to accomplish healthy mind and body.

Mrs. Sanchez, President of the Family Development System of Mexicali said that this is a worldwide celebration that takes place in more than 100 countries and it is a relevant part of the United Nations agenda, the organization determined that it would be the second Saturday of June when it would take place.

There were about one thousand last year and in 2018 there were more than 3 thousand attendants to this event which means that Mexicali residents have an ever growing intention to be in good shape and to enjoy body and mind health and a better life quality.

Among Mrs. Sanchez recommendations for better life quality are: Sleep at least 9 hours a day, 5 km run, 2 km walk, 15 km cycling ride among other activities which were coordinated by the Municipal Institute of Sports and Physical Culture (IMDECUF) besides the participation of other City Hall organizations such as D.A.R.E.: Municipal Social Development; Rural Development and the Culture and Arts Municipal Institute, among others.
