Mexicali, BC, July 3, 2018.- The Municipal President of Mexicali Gustavo Sánchez Vásquez formalized the inauguration of the reconstruction works of Álvaro Obregón Avenue, which include the rehabilitation and improvement of this road, from the Morelos roundabout to Julian Carrillo street.
Along with the President of DIF Municipal Margarita Flores de Sánchez, the mayor said that this work reconstructs an important part of the history of Mexicali, since Álvaro Obregón Avenue, is one of the most emblematic part of the state capital.
The mayor stressed that the road was repaved 100% and with this action seeks to promote the identity and pride of being “Cachanilla“.
He said that this lighting system installated along the avenue, seeks to recreate an environment similar to that of the 1930’s and 1940’s in Mexicali, so he invited families to visit and walk down Obregon Avenue and enjoy recreational activities such as bicycle rides at night, so that they can appreciate the beauty of this street.
Sánchez Vásquez explained that the reconstruction of this road was carried out in three stages, with an investment of 32,643,000 pesos, benefiting 25 thousand residents, covering an area of 34,166 square meters.
137 ornamental poles were installed to embellish the street with 238 LED system lamps, the construction of 500 meters of gutters and two electrical substations, among other adjustments.
The ceremony was presided by mayor Gustavo Sanchez, and many government officials attended the event.
