CALEXICO — A 23-year-old man was arrested Tuesday afternoon after he was allegedly found taking inappropriate photographs of women at Walmart, 2540 Rockwood Avenue, Calexico Police Department stated.
Jaime J. Sampayo, city of residence undisclosed, was taken into custody at 3:41 p.m. Tuesday at Walmart by Calexico police officers and booked into county jail on suspicion of invasion of privacy by concealing a device to record another person’s body or undergarments, county Sheriff’s Office arrest records stated.
Sampayo was held on a $500 bond for the alleged misdemeanor offense and released Tuesday night.
At approximately 3 p.m. Tuesday, CPD officers responded to Walmart regarding a male subject who was taking inappropriate photographs of women
Upon arrival, a CPD officer contacted the store’s loss prevention officer. The LPO stated he was contacted by two females who had reported that a man, identified as Sampoyo, had bent over in front of them and used his cell phone’s camera to take photographs under their dresses to photograph their underwear and crotch areas.
Sampoyo was then arrested for voyeurism.
“The Calexico police officer also viewed surveillance video from Walmart, where it appeared that he had also done the same to two other women,” CPD Chief Gonzalo Gerardo stated. “The other two women were not located.”
