Mexicali Resiste demonstrators and militants, who are against the brewing plant of the transnational company Constellation Brands, submitted a plebiscite request against the Environmental Impact Manifesto given to the mighty corporation, which operates wineries and breweries all over the world.
The militants collected 18 thousand signatures form citizens which were delivered to the Protocol Office of the State Electoral Institute (IEE in Spanish) and then Councilman Raul Guzmán in the Session Hall of the institute.
With a probable conflict of interest since Councilman Daniel Garcia seems to be the brother of one of the militants who submitted the plebiscite request and explained that there is a 15 day term to review that the documents and signatures meet the requirements and decide if the plebiscite request proceeds or not.
