Using pan de muerto, students create “Mega Catrina” in Ensenada

ENSENADA BC.- NOV. 3, 2018 (AFN) .- The Department of Education of this municipality, participated in coordination with the Vizcaya University of the Americas, campus Ensenada, in the development of a huge “Catrina”, in the context of the celebrations of the “Day of the Dead”.

The event was held in the Civic Plaza of the Fatherland, where gastronomy college students and staff from the education dept. used 900 loaves of bread (Pan de Muerto) with striking colors to put together the face of the giant-sized “Catrina”.

Catalina López Pérez, head of the education department, mentioned that 300 Vizcaya University students of the first, third and fifth semesters participated in the event.

She said that the creation of the “Catrina” was supervised by the chef Alán López, who coordinated 120 young people of gastronomy in order to arm the figure of the traditional character of the “Day of the Dead”.

The event was headed by Catalina López Pérez, city council official; Rodolfo Borunda Molina, academic director of Vizcaya University of the Americas; Korina Acevedo Lechuga, general director of the campus and Verónica Vargas, coordinator of Liaison in said institution.
