The mayor of Mexicali Gustavo Sánchez Vásquez congratulated Leslie Xcaret Soltero García for obtaining the third place and the bronze medal in the third Olympic Youth Games, held in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
Sánchez Vásquez received in his office the 17-year-old Leslie Xcaret who represented Mexico in the Olympic Yourh Games, where she finished third in the Taekwondo discipline, in the category of 63 kilograms.
Leslie was accompanied by her mother Violeta de Soltero, who spoke with the Municipal President for several minutes.
“I want to congratulate you, we have been following your sporting activity and you don’t just represent Mexicali, you represent a whole country and these type achievements undoubtedly involve hours and hours of sacrifice, effort, training, tenacity and discipline that would not have been possible without the support of your family”.
With the director of the Municipal Institute of Sport and Physical Culture, Julio César León Ortega as witness, the mayor invited Leslie to share her experiences with other young Mexicans.
The Mayor handed out a sports uniform and a plaque in recognition of taekwondoina.
“I present you with the official shield that represents everything that is Mexicali, the cotton, the industry, wear it with pride, you carry the Flag of Mexico, but you are also from Mexicali”, mayor Gustavo Vasquez said.
The young woman thanked the mayor for his congratulations and promised to continue training to add other triumphs in the fields of national and international sport.
