85 projects presented at the Expo Empredores UABC – Innovateen

Ensenada, BC, Wednesday, December 5, 2018.- The Autonomous University of Baja California (UABC), through the Professional Training and University Liaison Department of the Ensenada Campus and in coordination with the Business School Liaison Committee (COVEE), organized the Expo Entrepreneurs UABC – Innovateen 2018-2.

This event, which takes place every semester, has the purpose of contributing to the awakening of college students’ creativity and innovation.

In this edition, 85 projects were presented that involved 289 university students from the different schools and faculties of the Ensenada Campus.

The categories in which the students participated were Industrial and Technological Projects; Agroindustry and Food Industry; Environment and Sustainable Development;  Information and Communication Technologies; Health and Pharmaceutical Sciences; Commercial Projects or Services of an Innovative nature.

The Vice Chancellor of Campus Ensenada, Dr. Monica Lacavex Berumen, said that the expo encourages the creativity of young people, showcases the experience of teachers, and brings businessmen to serve as jury.

“This connection that has occurred with the Covee and with the state and municipal governments, leads us to have a greater impact and knowledge in the community of what the University is doing,” said the Vice Chancellor.

On the other hand, the engineer Jorge Menchaca Sinencio, President of Covee thanked the UABC for having confidence in the business sector, “we have taken very seriously the Entrepreneurs Expo, we have pleasantly seen how our University has grown in this sense, the quality of the young people and the quality of the products presented here “.

The chemist Jesús del Palacio Lafontaine, Delegate of the Secretary of Economic Development of the State Government and the lawyer Fernando López McGregor, Director of Economic Development of the XXII Ensenada City Council, agreed that entrepreneurs are the strength of the economy around the world and the ability to generate new jobs and solve problems through the creation of innovative products or services.

The Entrepreneurial Expo counted with the participation of judges from the business sector, who evaluated the creativity and innovation of the projects and finally gave recognition to the first place in each category, which were:

Commercial Projects or Services of an Innovative nature

  • Project: Adventure Ecotourism Park
  • Academic Unit: Faculty of Sports

Category Industrial and technological projects

  • Project: Wireless ECG via bluetooth

Category Information and Communication Technologies

  • Project: Partymusic.ens
  • Academic Unit: Faculty of Administrative and Social Sciences

Category Agroindustry and Food Industry

  • Project: Fragaria: Wine Marmalade
  • Academic Unit: Faculty of Engineering, Architecture and Design

Category Health Sciences and Pharmaceutical

  • Project: GI – Art
  • Academic Unit: Faculty of Engineering, Architecture and Design

The UABC Entrepreneurs Expo – Innovateen 2018-2, fatured the participation of UABC directors, teachers, career coordinators, department leaders, as well as representatives of business organizations that also served as judges.
