DIF inaugurates special facility for oncological patients in Mexicali

MEXICALI.- As of this Wednesday Dec. 19, patients who go to chemotherapy treatment in the Oncology Specialties Unit of Mexicali will have a place to sleep and rest during their treatment.

The XXII City Council of Mexicali opened on Wednesday the “Madre de Guadalupe” Oncology Stay, which is in charge of the municipal DIF, has 12 individual rooms, kitchen and recreation areas, which will be available for patients and their families, especially those who come from rural communities, where they will be able to rest during the treatment that regularly lasts 3 days.

For its construction and equipment 11.3 million pesos were invested, part of this resource was obtained through donations and support from the local community.

The facility is located one block away from the Oncology Specialty Unit within the area known as the Health City, where the Maternal and Child Hospital and the Health Sciences Center of the UABC are also located.
