Mexicali, Baja California.- In number 7, Mexicali is on the list of the cities with the highest level of air pollution in the Americas.
A study conducted by the World Health Organization (WHO) with 3 thousand 515 cities and settlements in the world placed Mexicali in position 7, below Comuna de Coyhaique, in Chile; Puente Piedra, in Peru, Brasilia, Brazil; and Ate, Huachipa and San Juan de Lauringacho, in Peru.
This study is based on the levels of PM10 and PM2.5 suspended particulate pollution since 2010 to date.
Regarding PM2.5, Mexicali is among the 25 most polluted cities in Mexico; while in America it occupies the seventh position.
Also in PM10 the capital of Baja California is ninth place in the continent and second in the country, behind Monterrey, NL.
