Mexicali’s Alfa and Omega migrants’ shelter saturated

The Alfa and Omega migrants’ shelter, located in the downtown area of Mexicali, Baja California, is saturated with 400 Central American migrants as a result of the 200 that arrived on Saturday March 2nd.

In the shelter there are children, men and women who have come to Mexico so they can eventually cross into the United States to request humanitarian asylum.

The migratory situation in Mexicali has become a crisis according to pro-migrant organizations because the shelters have stopped receiving economic resources from the federal government, which has caused the cloure of some shelters all over the northern border.

It is expected that more migrants will arrive in Mexicli during the coming days. With information from Cuartoscuro.
