Plaza Calafia turns 43 years old, Mayor Sanchez opens photographic exhibition showing historic moments

Next March 14th, Mexicali will be 113 years old, and part of the celebration is the 43rd anniversary of Plaza Calafia, where there used to be big bullfights, championship fights and other events, so Mayor Gustavo Sanchez held a ceremony to unveil photographic works of art related to the story of the iconic building.

Mayor Sanchez said that Calafia is a landmark of Mexicali and it stands as proof of the city´s growth and progress, while Luis Razo, city historian, said that the ring opened for the first time November 16th, 1975 and the matadors were Manolo Martinez, Eloy Cavazos and Mariano Ramos.
