Ensenada, BC .- Two tons of marijuana, were seized on Wednesday July 3rd by agents of the Mexican Army who intercepted a speedboat in the municipality of Ensenada, Baja California, that intended to cross to the United States.
The events occurred around 6 PM in the “Maneadero” delegation , near the area known as “La Bufadora” where agents of the 67th Infantry Battalion, located on the coast two boats, but the alleged drug traffickers fled in another direction towards the south in one of them, abandoning the other.
On the site, as part of the “Saldamando” operation, the vessel was located and it was found that it contained 58 packages of marijuana wrapped with nylon tape and aluminum foil to prevent humidity.
The packages with weights estimated at 38 kilograms each, added up to two tons of cannabis. In addition, a Global Positioning System (GPS) device, a 30-foot boat without license plate, three Yamaha-brand engines, and four fuel drums containing 150 liters of gasoline were also seized.
The drug is valued in more than 15 million pesos (750,000 USD) in the black market.
The packages and the confiscated objects were placed at the disposition of the Attorney General’s Office (FGR) in Tijuana.
