CETYS Campus Mexicali Zorros (Foxes) and La Verne University Leopards, strengthen their friendship links in the preseason game, where CETYS won 34 to 13, in a match played in CETYS Mexicali´s fox den in a festive mood.
After the initial ceremony, where the Mexican and North American anthems where sung players from both teams stepped upon the gridiron, Leopards (led by head coach Christopher Krich) had the first offensive series and punted after their first short offensive drive, while CETYS answered with an effective drive and a 32 yard TD pass from QB Kevin Barak to Humberto Lopez Cuevas.
The foxes led by head coach Luis Cervantes were leading seven to nothing, in the first quarter, but with an interception against QB Barak, Leopards had the ball and scored, but CETYS defensive blocked the point after touchdown, then in the second quarter CETYS failed to score a field goal and Laverne tur the tables with a 32 yard run and went up 13 to 7.
At the end of the game, |coach Luis Cervantes said that after the Guadalajara game (which CETYS lost) they had realized that there were problems in the physical aspect, so they worked hard these last days and the results showed in the game against Laverne, while coach Krich said that many of his players were playing abroad for the first time and it was a good experience for most of them.
Next week CETYS will visit the Los Angeles area to play against Occidental College Tigers, which will be the foxes third and last game of this years´ preseason.
