Alexis Lopez, San Felipe´s rowing wonderboy seeking to obtain Tokyo 2020 Olympics ticket, visited Governor Kiko Vega

San Felipe has become the place where triumphant rowing competitors have been born, the high performance training center and the discipline and dedication of the athletes training there, have turned the port into the center where those talents are groomed and sent all over the world to become winners, an example is that during the last Pan-American games, celebrated in Lima, Perú where Mexican rowers won a stunning amount of medals.

Baja California athlete hailing from San Felipe, Alexis Bladimir Lopez, and his trainer Jose Manuel Lozoya, were at Governor Kiko Vega´s office in Mexicali, to speak about his intention to attend the upcoming Olympic Games Tokyo 2020 to compete in the rowing events, he said he´s ready to compete in order to secure a place in Japan´s Olympiad, altogether with Alexa López and Daniel Corral who have already classified for Tokyo Games.

Alexis has won two Pan-American Championships, Toronto 2015 and Lima 2019 and was fourth place senior in the last FISA World Championships in Austria 2019, and became the first rowing World Champion in March 2015, when he won the gold medal in the Light Junior category in the CRASJ Indoor competitions, which took place in London.

After his Boston victory and world championship, Alexis has been shining all over the world in rowing competitions, winning trophies and medals, so Governor Vega congratulated him and invited him to do his best in order to obtain one more place in the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games as two other Baja Californians already did: Alexa López and Daniel Corral, who will be competing in gymnastics as they did in Brazil 2016.
