Mexicali is 4th place in COVID19 contagion in Mexico; Mayor announced traffic and commerce restrictions


It is not time for economic reactivation in Mexicali, we are the fourth city in Mexico with the most contagions, hospitals and funeral services are at their full capacity, said Mexicali Mayor, Marina del Pilar Avila Olmeda, in a video message on social media, announcing a series of restrictive measures in city traffic and supermarkets.

Mexicali has reached 154 deaths, as of Friday´s last figures from the Health Secretary, there are more one thousand 700 confirmed cases, local residents hadn´t followed the confinement and social distancing instructions, so there has been a sudden and steep rise on the so called “curve”.

Some of the main avenues and boulevards will be closed starting at 6PM, vehicles will be allowed to carry only two occupants and Supermarkets will close at 7PM   Mayor Avila also said that those “essential businesses” operating, should not take things for granted and most follow all precautions thoroughly, they will be observed continuously.
