Obregón Avenue “rehab” continues, project is due in October

The rehabilitation works on Mexicali’s Alvaro Obregón Avenue continue in their second stage and the main goal is to improve the urban image of the State Capital’s downtown, it has already advanced 55% and the total investment will be 18 million 578 thousand 599 pesos, from the so called “Fond Metropolitan” (metropolitan fund), said Public Works Director of the 22nd City Council of Mexicali, Francisco Reynoso, who also said that the rehab project is due to be over as of late October.

He said Obregon avenue is part of the Public Works program for 2017, and it will benefit more than 25 thousand residents who drive or walk around the area every day, an area that used to be full of life, where the City Market was located, a famous furniture store and two movie theaters were also part of this avenue, now they are nothing but the shadow of History that is vanishing, all over Mexicali there are buildings being demolished to construct the new image of Mexicali.

Reynoso also mentioned that as part of the Public Works budget “package” there are important streets and avenues being repaired in the following sections of Mexicali: González Ortega, Nacionalista, Municipio Libre, Conjunto Urbano Esperanza, Guadalupe Victoria, Compuertas, Ejido Tehuantepec, Ejido Sinaloa, Mérida, Ciudad Morelos, among other areas of Mexicali city and Valley.
