Phoenix Mayor Greg Stanton received Mayor Gustavo Sanchez in his office today, it was a business meeting where they talked about several topics, aiming to foster and strengthen the relationship between both cities and correspond with an invitation to Mr. Stanton and a group of businessmen and Government officials to visit Mexicali and get acquainted with Baja California’s capital industrial and touristic potential.
In the meeting there was announcement of an upcoming event called “Mexicali in Phoenix” where representatives from Baja California’s capital will attend and promote tourism and investment opportunities and alternatives in the city.
Gustavo Sánchez also said that it is very relevant for his Administration to reinforce alliances take advantage of Mexicali geographical location and advertise the competitive edges of the city, Valley and San Felipe.
The specialized area for Economic Development Fostering was created to perform actions and specific programs which facilitate the arrival of investment to the city, coordinating efforts with other instances of Government and entrepreneurial organizations, and altogether create better life standards and conditions for Mexicali families which, no doubt, they go hand in hand with priority issues such as safety and security.
Mayor Sanchez also pointed out at the relevance of retaining and expanding investments of Arizona based corporations such as Honeywell Engines Systems and Services which has a very important aerospace operation in Mexicali which yields 3 thousand 500 high value jobs.
He also held a meeting with the Arizona Commerce Authority, as well as a business meeting with a High Tech Company which is contemplating to install an investment Project in Mexicali with the resulting job creation, which is very important for the Mexican city.
