Mexicali increases air connectivity with four new routes

“Mexicali will have four new air routes and the arrival of two new airlines”, said the delegation of the Ministry of Tourism in the Municipality.

The head of the unit, Eloy Moreno Méndez, announced that after the efforts made to promote the region, Viva Aerobus, TAR Airlines and Volaris will offer new routes to different cities in the coming days.

“These new routes emerge as part of the business and tourism offers of our State. The Mexicali airport registered 365,000 passengers during the first half of 2017, which represents a 12% increase compared to the same period last year which means the number of visitors is increasing significantly. ”

Through a statement, the Ministry explained that Viva Aerobus will offer a new flight to Guadalajara, starting August 21, with a frequency of four days a week, and on August 22 the first flight to Monterrey will open, with availability of three flights per week.

In both cases (Guadalajara and Monterrey) the type of aircraft is an AIRBUS A320 with capacity for 186 passengers and the airfare starts from $1,696 pesos per round flight.

TAR Airlines will begin the Mexicali-Hermosillo-Culiacán-Chihuahua route on September 11 at 14:00 hours, using airplanes with a capacity for 50 people, the Embraer EJR 145 will fly five days a week.

Volaris with a frequency of five days per week also, will offer a new itinerary starting November 13 to Monterrey on a A319 aircraft, with capacity for 144 passengers and with an initial airfare of $1,690 pesos round flight.
