In an interview with Cadena Noticias, the head of the Municipal Public Security Directorate (DSPM) of Mexicali, pointed out that there’s still a lot of work to be done to have a safer Mexicali, but progress is evident .

“Without a doubt, as we have always said, we are not satisfied, there is still a lot to do, we have to keep working, we can’t let our guard down, but I think there are signs of improvement in the city,” he acknowledged.

The Director said that little by little, the strategy implemented in Mexicali is working, maybe not as quick as citizens would expect, but there are positive results.

He revealed that there is a 20% reduction in the crime of theft, in its different modalities.

“In robberies in general, there is a reduction of around 20%, including theft to trade, robbery with violence, and vehicle theft, which is an important sign of progress. Last year, we had a complicated first semester, but I think that the second half of 2017, and the first month of this year, things have been improving and citizen participation has worked better.”
