About a month ago the president of Coparmex Mexicali, Rodrigo Llantada announced that the company Constellation Brands decided to invest 900 million USD in its plant in Ciudad Obregón, in the state of Sonora, and not in Mexicali as originally announced.
This Friday, Jorge Burgos, manager of the Compañía Cervecera de Baja California, a subsidiary of the Constellation Brands in Mexicali, said that the investment of 1.4 billion dollars for the construction of the brewery plant in Mexicali is still standing.
“We are investing in Mexicali as we have always said, and the part of the investment made in Ciudad Obregón is part of the growth our company is having here in Mexico but we want more investments from Constellation Brands in Mexicali, hopefully in a second, third and fourth stages, “said the businessman.
When the brewing plant in Mexicali starts operations, it will produce 5 million hectoliters of beer per year for export, “the first stage is firm, we will produce 5 million hectoliters of beer here in Mexicali, continue the construction and start as I said very likely next year, “he added.
The representative of Constellation Brands said that as soon as the brewing plant built in Mexicali begins operations, the supply of water for production will be provided by the operating agency, the CESPM.
