Secretary of State Pompeo and Foreign Relations Minister Videgaray met in Washington DC

The United States Secretary of State, Mike R. Pompeo, got together with Mexico’s Foreign Relations Secretary, Luis Videgaray in Washington, D.C. where they talked about the recent tariff raises to certain Mexican and Canadian products entering the USA, such as steel and aluminum as well as to dialogue about NAFTA re-negotiations and the search for an updated treaty in that matter, according to Department of State spokesperson, Heather Nauert.

She also said that they reviewed the nature of the bilateral cooperation to stop de illegal drugs flow and the entrance of illegal aliens to the United States which are relevant matters for the relationship between the two countries.

Secretary Pompeo admitted that Mexico has been exercising an effective leadership coordinating the diplomatic efforts with Venezuela within the American States Organization (OEA in Spanish) and in the Lima Group process.
