Enrique Peña Nieto (Mexico´s former President) heritage and legacy has been one of violence and fear, leaving Mexico as one of the most violent countries, so violent that four Mexican cities are among the deadliest cities in the world: Tijuana, Acapulco, Ciudad Victoria and Ciudad Juarez, while Los Cabos, which was in first place last year has improved considerably.
- Tijuana, Baja California with 2,640 murders (138%)
- Acapulco, Guerrero with 948 murders (110%)
- Caracas, Venezuela with 2,980 murders (99%)
- Ciudad Victoria, Tamaulipas with 314 murders (86%)
- Ciudad Juárez, Chihuahua with 1,251 murders (85%)
For “Patas” (legs, as Tijuana Mayor, Juan Manuel Gastelum likes to be called) there is an ill intention against the city in this information by the Citizens Council for Public Safety and Criminal Justice (CCSPJP in Spanish) which places Tijuana as the most violent city in the planet, and more than dishonor for the State is living proof of Gastelum´s lack of capability and/or responsibility to work in order to reduce violence and murders in that city while Los Cabos which was in first place last year has fell in this ranking and that is positive for them.
On the other hand, cities such as Irapuato, Guanajuato, appears for the first time in this ranking and reactions are all over, the problem is serious and more than denying or counter-argue, and start working and make good on their campaign promises in which they mounted to ride all the way to Governmental positions becoming authorities with the mandatory job of working for the citizens security.
